MARTINEZ -  a Historical Town

Martinez is the Contra Costa County Seat and most government offices are located here.  
Shell oil refinery is also located in Martinez and tankers come and go from their loading docks on the
Sacramento River.  The city, at one time, was a very important sea port and
entry point for vessels coming from all areas of the world. 

Real Estate in Martinez holds its value well.  Martinez is noted for very good schools,
has easy access to freeways Hwy 4 and I-680 and is an easy community to various points in
the Bay Area.  In general, with some exceptions, housing is not as expensive as in Walnut Creek
or Pleasant Hill and there are many historical homes and sites in Martinez.  There is
Shoreline Regional Park and a Marina in the city right on the Sacramento River,
where numereous outdoor activities take place.
