SPARKS, NV
Sparks was a sleepy town until the Southern Pacific Railway Company built a switch yard, deeded lots adjacent to the new railroad round house to each employee willing to relocate with their house and belongs, shipped free of charge from the town of Wadsworth in the early 1900s. Prior to this time, the area was inhabited by the Washoe people. In the 1850s, the European immigrants settled in the area, supplying cattle to those making the long journey over the Sierras to the West.
Located in Truckee Meadows of northern Nevada, Sparks has an elevation of approximately 4,500 feet with a high desert climate and sunshine 80% of the year. It covers 24 square miles and is referred to as half of a twin city, Reno-Sparks.

Whether you enjoy outdoor sports, visiting historical sites, shopping or watching a live performance, you can find a variety of things to do for the whole family.
