on Highway 395 between Silver Lake and Lemmon Valley with an elevation of 4,999 ft.

Championship Air Races and Air Show (see link at http://www.airrace.org/indexJS.php )
held every September. The airport is also used as a base for fire fighting by the
Bureau of Land Management and is home to the Nevada Air National Guard, which
received federal recognition on April 12, 1948, which has grown from 43 officers
and 45 enlisted airmen to more than 1,100 men and women serving today.
